Managing People and OrganizationsManagement professionals understand the dynamics of human, group and organizational behaviour. At Sprott, you’ll develop the highly valuable skills of managing and understanding people at individual, group and organizational levels.

You’ll have the skills to evaluate a situation and know how to engage people to accomplish the task, whether you’re dealing with business to business e-commerce or trying to help an organization deal with change.  Employers are always looking for valued professionals who can effectively communicate their ideas and mobilize others to get them accomplished.

Course Highlights

BUSI 3104: Managing Individuals

Focuses on your interpersonal and managerial abilities by building your self-awareness and communication, motivation, and leadership skills.

BUSI 3105: Managing Groups

Builds your team skills by improving your knowledge and ability to be a good team member, leader and manager.

BUSI 4105: Managing Change

Learn about and apply, through simulations and a term project, the difficult process of managing change, with a particular emphasis on the behavioral aspects of change and resistance to change.

BUSI 4112: Organizational Leadership

Explore your own aspirations and motivations in terms of where you would like to lead, whom you would like to lead, and how you will get there, with an emphasis on leadership communication.

Outside the Classroom

National Capital Leadership Challenge

The Leadership Challenge is a unique opportunity for third and fourth year business students. Created by members of the Ottawa business community, the objective of the program is to develop and cultivate the next generation of leadership for our emerging technology sector. Winners of the Challenge receive a cash prize and a paid summer internship at one of the sponsoring companies.

Mindtrust Leadership Development Program

This six-module program is open to undergraduate business, MBA, computer science and engineering students. Students gain practical, hands-on leadership experience through real-world examples and workshops facilitated by award-winning program leaders and CEOs from some of Ottawa’s most successful technology firms.
