Changes to the Bachelor of Commerce Program

The Bachelor of Commerce program has undergone a redesign and the new curricula will become effective as of Fall 2011. While this re-design is geared to new incoming students, existing  students may be impacted.

Deleted Courses:

Three courses that are currently required for the Bachelor of Commerce major will no longer be offered after summer 2011. Below is what you should take if you are missing one or more of these courses.

  • Missing ECON 2002 take ECON 2020.
  • Missing BUSI 3300 take BUSI 2301.
  • Missing both BUSI 2300 & BUSI 3300 take both BUSI 2301 & BUSI 3309.

Changing your Concentration After May 1st, 2011

A student’s program requirements are governed based on the year they enter the program. This is called a “calendar year.” Whenever a student makes a change to their major program elements, this “calendar year” changes. As a result, if any student adds, drops or changes a concentration after May 1st, 2011, their major will automatically change to the “new” calendar rules.

What this means for you:

If you do not change your concentration at all, everything will remain the same. However, if you do change you will notice some drastic differences in your major requirements.

In summation, DO NOT PANIC! Courses will appear in different places and new courses are going to show up.
