What is the Mindtrust Leadership Development Program?

MLDP is a unique opportunity for Carleton University students in 3rd and 4th year B.Com., BIB, Engineering and Computer Science as well as MBA students to develop important leadership skills and network with CEOs from some of Ottawa’s leading high tech companies.

Who is eligible to participate?

Only 30 students each from Carleton University (including the Sprott School of Business, engineering and computer science students) and the University of Ottawa’s Telfer School of Management are eligible to participate in the annual program. Students are selected on the basis of their CGPA, commitment to the program and letter of reference from a faculty sponsor or employer.

Why should I participate?

The MLDP is the brainchild of Mindtrust, an organization designed exclusively for CEOs of Ottawa technology companies. Mindtrust members mentor participants in the MLDP by offering valuable insights and expertise based on “real-world” management experience. Students also have the opportunity to network with CEOs from some of the Ottawa region’s most innovative high tech companies.

What will I learn?

Using practical examples and best practices, Mindtrust program leaders and CEOs will coach participants and showcase winning leadership skills needed to succeed in today’s business world. MDLP program leaders are industry leaders in both the private and public sectors and master program leaders with international experience.

How is the program organized?

The MLDP consists of six 4-hour modules including a joint opening and closing session with all 60 participants. Space is limited. Following completion of the program, Mindtrust will host an awards night for participants, providing an exclusive networking session with CEOs from some of Ottawa’s leading technology companies. Students who successfully complete the program will receive a certificate of completion and will be included in the Mindtrust Linked In on-line profile for networking and connections with Mindtrust CEOs.

Students must meet the following criteria to be deemed to have successfully completed the Mindtrust Leadership Development Program

  • Attend all 6 modules
  • Actively participate in, and contribute to, overall learning in each session; and,
  • Receive approval from participating Mindtrust CEOs and facilitators.

 How much does it cost?

Comparative programs are valued at more than $2,100. However in order to make the program accessible to students, cost for the MLDP is $135 for the six modules and all content, as well as the awards night, networking session, and a connection to the MLDP Linked In Network.

What is Mindtrust?

Mindtrust – www.mindtrust.ca

For leaders of Ottawa’s technology companies, Mindtrust is the CEO-exclusive, by-invitation-only networking forum – a catalyst that accelerates the growth of the region’s high-tech industries by increasing the depth of world-class corporate leadership. The regular meetings include a breakfast meeting on the first Friday of each month, featuring high-profile speakers, local panels and roundtable discussions. Mindtrust goals are to attract CEOs who represent the full cross-section of high-tech sectors and a broad range of experience, to offer a safe harbour where CEOs feel free to share knowledge, experiences, challenges and opportunities with their peers, and to deliver high-quality content provided by both founders and members, who will be polled for topics of discussion.
